Coping with Depression: 5 Small Ways to Start Feeling Good Again

1. Get Moving

One  of the best ways to fight depression, exercise. It seems to encourage the brain to rewire itself in positive ways, plus it also temporarily boosts feel-good chemicals called endorphins.

2. Get enough sleep

Sleep helps regulate your mood and is necessary for both mental and physical health. Too little sleep can make depression worse.

3. Put off big decisions

Both good and bad ‘big decisions’ are stressful. It is best to wait,  if you can, until you are feeling stable before making a major life changing decision – even ones that you think will make you happy.

4. Don’t do too much

Avoid scheduling things back-to-back or trying to fit too much into one day. Feeling overwhelmed creates stress, and stress is a major factor for depression. Take things slow and easy.

5.  Do things you enjoy

Pick up a former hobby or a sport you used to like. Or you can even express yourself creatively through music, art, or writing. Whatever activity you decide to do, make sure to enjoy.

When all else fails, you might want to look for a professional with a cognitive behavioral background, an approach that’s been shown to help with depression. SEEK HELP NOW.
